Too Good To Be True

Too Good To Be True

Book You Should Read!!!!!

I am currently reading Give Them Grace: Dazzling Your Kids With the Love of Jesus. I normally would not recommend a book before finishing it BUT with this book I will make an exception :) The author is Elyse Fitzpatrick who you may remember from Idols of the Heart and an article on teaching our girls to love Christ more than a boyfriend in RC's magazine. I found myself posting clip after clip on my facebook so you can go there and check it out.  You can also read the forward and first couple of chapters on Amazon. https://kindle.amazon.com/post/9ZID7ZVOVAOQ I tried to sum it up for you here but I can't do it justice so you will just have to check it out for yourself :)

Helen Keller and Parenting

Today we watched The Miracle Worker, The Story of Helen Keller. (There is a song and a parody that both make reference to Helen and after explaining her condition to the kids they just had question after question about her life) I am so thankful that I took the time to look it up and let them watch the story. Annie Sullivan was just amazing in her dedication to help Helen. She was steadfast and consistent. (Things I am not when it comes to parenting) So many times during the movie I thought about how we as parents can do harm out of "love".  And before we get started here let me be loud and clear:  THIS IS NOT AN "OH WOE IS US, WE PARENT SO BAD HOW CAN WE EVER EXPECT OUR BABIES TO LOVE THE LORD WHEN WE SUCK SO BAD AT IT" kind of article. This is a guilt free zone. All of our mistakes and mess ups are nailed to the cross of Christ if we belong to Him . He has lived the life that we cannot and He has paid the price we deserve. We repent and put our trust in Christ

RECIPES FROM JENNIE!!!!!

Okay ladies, I have the recipes from Jennie for her homemade cleaners!  We have discussed my love of lather and fragrance so I will be skipping out on the shampoo and conditioner but I have used and enjoyed the hand soap and laundry detergent :)  HOMEMADE FOAMING HAND SOAP This one requires a little bit of cost up front, but will save you tons of money in the long run. It also cuts down on all those   plastic bottles   going to the landfill. First you will need to find a   Bath & Body Works   store. Next buy their anti-bacterial gentle foaming   hand soap . They often have these on sale at 3/$10. This works perfect for me because I have one in each of my two bathrooms and one in the kitchen. Now, when your B & B   hand soap   runs out, rinse out the bottle and squirt in 1/2 inch of your favorite ultra   dish soap . I've used Ivory   dish soap   before because it's clear and doesn't smell like   dish soap . I recently purchased Dawn Plus (on sale of cour

10 Things Submission is Not

By: Jennifer Smidt  1. Simply or singularly a marriage issue Submission is God’s design. It is a reflection of the interaction within the Trinity. Whether single or married, submission is a core heart issue revealing one’s dependence upon God. For a wife, it demonstrates her willingness to yield to her husband’s lead in obedience and belief of God’s covenant to her. 2. Degrading Women have been lured into believing that submission is somehow humiliating. It does not bestow second-class status. It was Christ’s glory to submit to his father’s plan of redemption for his children; it is a wife’s glory to submit to God’s plan of provision and protection for her life 3. Silent When submission is depicted as voiceless oppression, both men and women lose. God declared that men need help and to leave them without our prayerful input is to deny them help – the very thing God declared they need. Submission uses her voice to speak words of grace and life into her husband’s life. 4. Fearful A f

The Move

Well, the time has come for us to go sign the lease on a house in Mississippi. Anyone that knows me knows this is going to be very hard to do. This is where I hear the "God is sovereign, He knows best, He is in control" speech. I have spoken it to myself over and over again. I know it is true....but you know what? It is still hard. The past year and a half has been so beneficial to me.  I have fallen in love with the area I am in and have made friendships that will change in some form or fashion when I move no matter how much we don't want them to. I am really going to miss so many things, a lot of little things. The people for sure and the kids around here at the complex definitely.  I know God will give me all that I need no matter what my location. We were nervous when we moved over here and I tried to look at it as an adventure. Things went better than we could have imagined. I know that the God I serve that made that happen is  the same God that I serve while this

Rethinking Progress by Tullian Tchividijan

The gospel has me reconsidering the typical way we think about Christian growth. It has me rethinking spiritual measurements and maturity; what it means to change, develop, grow; what the pursuit of holiness and the practice of godliness really entails. What’s been happening in me recently is similar to what happened in me when I first became a Calvinist back in the Winter of 1995. Everything changed. I began to read the Bible with new eyes. The sovereignty of God and the sweetness of his unconditional grace were EVERYWHERE! I remember thinking, “How did I miss this before? It’s all over the place.” Well, the same thing has been happening to me with regard to how I think about Christian growth. If we’re serious about reading the Bible in a Christ-centered way; if we’re going to be consistent when it comes to avoiding a moralistic interpretation of the Bible; if we’re going to be unswerving in our devotion to understand the many parts of the Bible in light of its unfolding, overarching
