It may be just me but the longer I strive to teach my kids to walk in the way of the Lord the more I see how often I fail to do that myself. The lesson my kids learn most from me would have to be “this is what we are supposed to do but this what sin leads us to do instead”. Raising children continually shows me my need for a Savior. I am pointed back to the Cross several times a day. Not only in pointing them to the Cross for forgiveness and grace but to find forgiveness and grace for myself. In teaching them what it looks like to be a follower of Christ I see where I am lacking. The Lord uses EVERY conversation that we have about their sin as an opportunity to show me mine. I show them scripture and teach them the truth of the Word of God knowing that only He can produce the miracle of salvation and sanctification. Being frugal is being a good steward of the financial means which God has provided you. Being frugal can help you have more to share with others who are in need. It can help you to have a plethora of food in your home enabling you to open your doors in hospitality to others, bringing about great fellowship. It allows you to help your husband in making it financially possible for you to remain at home and out of the workforce so that you can raise and educate your children. My frugality was originally born out of necessity. However, it didn't take me long to see how it could be used for God's glory. For me, it enables me to do all the things I mentioned above, but most of all it enables me to be able to homeschool my son which I feel is vitally important to his spiritual upbringing.
